Hari House | Trivandrum |2008
The house for an artist in one and a half cent from his meagre savings. The project was completed in 6 lakhs INR. The house was named kiliveedu (bird house) by his son. The double storeyed house was a pragmatic response to the needs, aspirations and the context. A simple rectangular plan, intended to reduce the brick consumption. Only a small fraction of the house could be see.n amongst the thick neighbourhood. And that portion took shape of a small tiled cottage (or the bird house) fashioned with popular ornamentation of the period . The living space , dining , kitchen and the master bedroom formed the ground floor while hari’s studio space, a bedroom and the terrace was the first floor.
